Whinlatter Forest Park Visitor Centre from 2pm

Join Dave Camlin and singers from Sing In! and Sing Owt! community choirs for a one-off spring sing to sing some songs of peace in the inspiring surroundings of the Whinlatter Forest. Our friends from University of York will be with us to record some of the songs in virtual reality to take into care homes, so that care home residents can have the experience of singing outdoors in a group!

There are a host of songs we might sing. If you want to join us, you can download scores and MP3 recordings to help you learn the songs by clicking on the appropriate song title. The ones we’ll almost certainly record and sing are:

We might have a sing of some of these as well:

Getting There

From Keswick, follow the A66 toward Cockermouth. Turn left for Braithwaite and continue through the village, to follow the B5292 up Whinlatter Pass. It's not a terribly steep pass, but it does have some stunning views. You can also come at it from the other side, coming up from the Lorton valley. There's lots of car parking right next to the centre.

We'll meet at the Visitor Centre itself, and our singing friends Barbara and Sara from Sing Owt who work at Whinlatter have very kindly given us access to shelters where we can be out of any weather if we need to be.
